In my final year of college, Brian Lesnak, Kyle Lepley, William Lorence and I built a brain-controlled guitar and bass effects system. It was fully functional, we showed it at EPCOT in Disney World as part of Cornell and Intel’s systems engineering competition, and we won the first entrepreneurship award ever given at the Cornell Cup.
The EEG headset was an Emotiv EPOC. Audio processing ran on an Altera Cyclone IV FPGA, and an Intel Atom handled the software side, talking to the FPGA over PCIe.
