Brain Controlled Effects
In my final year of college, Brian Lesnak, Kyle Lepley, William Lorence, and I worked together to create a brain controlled guitar / bass effects system. We managed to make it fully functional and got to show it off at EPCOT in Disney World as part of Cornell and Intel’s Systems Engineering Competition. We won the first entrepreneurship award ever given at Cornell Cup.
The system’s EEG headset was an Emotive EPOC headset. The audio processing was performed on an Altera Cyclone IV FPGA and an Intel Atom processor performed the software size of the work communicating to the FPGA through a PCIE bus.
